Nick Goolab wins Westminster Mile with Phil Wicks 4th in Vitality 10k

Nick Goolab continued his fine spell of form with a brilliant win at the Westminster mile, running 4:01 to defeat the in-form Andrew Butchart.

“I was in a right mood here last year, so it’s nice to come back and have fond memories,” Nick told interviewers after his win, referring to his forced withdrawal from the 2015 race due to illness.

“It’s a great event and lovely for me especially as a born and raised Londoner. It’s fantastic to be in such a great setting.”

The next day's Vitality 10k saw Phil Wicks score a solid 4th in 29:47, while two Belles were out in force as Sam Amend ran her fastest time for years (36:10), and a little way back Sophie Carter also ran well to go sub 37.
