Racewalker Maddy Shott breaks 50-minute 10k barrier
Maddy Shott broke the 50-minute barrier for the 10k walk for the first time with an impressive 49:53.9 in cold conditions on the track at Battersea Park.
The time was good enough for second overall, with only the men's winner ahead.
That's almost 3 minutes quicker than her road 10k pb of 52:46, set at Coventry in March, in the Race Walking Association championship, where she placed 3rd senior.
It's been an outstanding year so far for Maddy, who won silver at the British Championships in the 5000W in February.
