In bitingly cold conditions it was a great result for Gražina Narviliene (pictured left, 49), who finished with just two men in front of her in the Enfield League 5 miles Race Walk - Fabian Deuter and Francisco Reis.

And a big breakthrough for Sabina

Sabina Brown made the big breakthrough that we thought might be just around the corner - setting a time well ahead of anything we could reasonably have expected. Sabina was up with a big group that was chasing the front three for the first half mile or so but was soon completely isolated as a small group opened a gap on her and she pulled away from all others. But she didn't buckle after her fast start and kept her position with a strong effort, using good rhythm and style to stay clear of a bunch of people who have been comfortably ahead of her in previous races. She should smash her 5k personal best at Bexley next week.

Another solid back-up performance came from Maureen Noel, getting under 50 minutes. Unfortunately Rebecca and Tabi missed the race for different reasons after planning to do it but we hope to have a big turn-out at Bexley next week and a strong women's team for the National 10 miles on 10th March.
