Farewell to Old Belgravian John "Johnny" Morris

We regret to announce the death on Friday 12th February  of John (Johnny) Morris C 473. after illness at St George's Hospital Tooting aged 83John had been a Belgrave Harrier's member  since November 1958, originally more into cycling, he joined Belgrave and working for London Ports Authority on security he was able to compete in the Barking to Southend Police long distance championship on many occasions, on retirement he was then employed at the Old Bailey on security.He was a life Member of Belgrave and became a Centurion 474 in his first 100 at Ewhurst in 1971 coming in together with the late John Keown C473. He went on to compete in a further five 100miles. He would compete at all distances and was a regular in the National 50kms, Hastings and Brighton walks. On retirement from walking he would be seen at many track and field meetings as an official.
