Bill Lucas DFC to take a leading part in televised Pride of Britain Awards 2016

Bill Lucas, who is just 12 weeks away from celebrating his 100th birthday, and has served Belgrave for over 80 years, has been invited to this year’s Pride of Britain Awards ceremony which will take place on the evening of Monday 31st October at the Grosvenor House hotel in Mayfair. The annual awards ceremony, hosted by Carol Vorderman, and screened on ITV1 prime time on Tuesday 1st November, recognises Britain's unsung heroes. The awards are a very prestigious, annual event supported by HRH The Prince Of Wales and former Prime Ministers Blair, Brown and Cameron. HRH Prince Charles is attending the awards this year and our new Prime Minister Theresa May. This year there will be a special recognition award to Team GB and Paralympic GB.   Bill’s invitation was worded :- “As the oldest surviving Olympian, we would be honoured if you would also be willing to attend the awards ceremony and be part of the Team GB and Paralympic GB award presentation. You would present the award alongside other British Olympic greats, such as Sir Chris Hoy, Rebecca Adlington and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, and the 2016 Olympians receiving the award on behalf of the team include Laura Trott, Jason Kenny, Jack Laugher, Adam Peaty and Chris Mears. It will be a fantastic climax to the evening, and a chance to celebrate this summer's success and our great Olympic heritage. We would of course take care of your travel on the night, and as we discussed on the phone, we very much look forward to welcoming your wife as your guest for the evening.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, and if you would like to find out more about the awards, please visit www.prideofbritain.com    We very much look forward to welcoming you and your wife on the evening. All the bestAntonia PagetPride of Britain
