Georgia Bell wins as Belgrave hosts biggest ever Comeback 5000
Belgrave Harriers hosted the fourth Comeback 5000 at Battersea as the club’s own Georgia Bell set a new PB on her way to the women’s prize.
Morpeth’s Rory Leonard won the men’s race in 13:29.54, within four seconds of the 13:26.20 stadium record of set by Australia’s Craig Mottram at a BMC meeting in June 2000.
Six Belgrave men made it onto the club’s all time top 100 list over 5000m, headed by Max Heyden’s 14:01.03 for 7th place.
The event was a proud club effort, with Belgravians on commentary (Lloyd Kempson and Mimi Corden-Lloyd), running the bar (Andy North), timekeeping (Charlie Dickinson), videography (Conall Whelan), pacemaking (Callum Stewart), marshalling (Henry Hart and Conall McNally) as well as a team of tireless organisers working behind the scene for the past few months (Steve Gardner, Rob Kelly, Steph Hewitt, Mimi and Lloyd).
