Youth Development League - Match 1

A great team effort but many gaps to fill...

Sutcliffe Park, Saturday 2 May

Well done to all of our juniors who took part in the first YDL competition on Saturday 2 May.  It was a long (windy and cold) day for everyone, but it was a great experience and hopefully we can build on this, our first YDL competition.

Everyone who did compete excelled themselves and there were some wonderful performances from athletes competing for the first time with plenty of personal bests being achieved by many.

The highlight of the fixture was when athletes took part in events that they had only ever practiced once or those who volunteered for events that they really did not want to do but did it for the team anyway. This showed real teamwork from everyone and was great to see as that is what Belgrave Harriers is all about.

We shouldn’t be too disillusioned by the fact that we came last - that is down to the fact that we did not have full teams. The U13 team were operating a skeleton crew with only four girls and one boy - come on boys we really need you for competitions! It’s important that everyone can attend as the only way we can win is to have four full teams of juniors who each do 3 events, so I hope to see all of you who train with us at the next competition.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ALL AVAILABLE FOR THE 2ND COMPETITION ON THE 30TH OF MAY WHICH WILL BE AT PARLIAMENT HILL SO JUST A TUBE RIDE AWAY
