Vitality 10k: Nick Goolab 3rd, Tish Jones 4th, strong Belgrave team performance
Nick Goolab finished third and Tish Jones fourth ahead of a strong Belgrave lineup at the Vitality London 10000.
In the form of his life, Goolab got Belgrave hearts pounding when he lead Mo Farah and Andy Butchart through halfway in 14:08. He couldn't hold on to a Farah/Butchart surge at around 7k but still finished an impressive third in 28:47 - just a day after running 4:05 in the Westminster Mile and only a week on from finishing first Brit at the Great Manchester 10k.
Belgrave's marathon hero Tish Jones was not far behind, finishing fourth in the women's race in 33:06, just 8 seconds off her PB.

A resurgent Phil Wicks (30:49) and Paskar Owor (32:00), struggling recently with hamstring problems, completed the scoring trio for Belgrave in the club championship. The 1:31:36 total would have been good enough for an overall silver medal last year but a quick glance at the spreadsheet shows Leeds, Aldershot and Shaftesbury Barnet all quicker this year.
The Bels' engine room of Nick Buckle (32:58), Arne Dumez (33:08), Konstantinos Touse (33:12), Brad Courtney-Pinn (33:59) and Alex Miller (34:03) all finished within 65 seconds of each other, with no PBs but all strong performances considering the tight start and, in Brad's case, the lack of speed training since the marathon just a month ago.
Georgie Fenn (37:01) was second home for the Belles, just a week on from victory in the Great Manchester Half, followed closely by spirited performances from Sam Amend (37:37), Rachel Brown (39:30 pb) and Jess Lowe (41:10 pb). Lizzie Goldie-Scot and Mimi Corden-Lloyd ran well, as did promising debutant Lizzie Dingemans.
Ben Ireland made his first championship appearance in claret and gold, and though he was disappointed with his 37:45, he's a talent who'll run much faster than this with a few more Battersea sessions under his belt. One to watch!
Marathon addict James Morris scored the only PB of the men's squad, which will serve as a confidence booster ahead of...another marathon, this time in Luxembourg in five days' time.
