Southern Athletics League
The final match of the season saw another good team performance from the Bels. We couldn't match Crawley AC - at home and with their UKWAL and BAL squads both eligible for the SAL match - but we placed second on the day and as a result moved fractionally nearer the top of the league, defeating Dartford but remaining just two match points behind them in the division.
The day was notable for the turn out of TWO Olympians in our team. Not only was the ever-reliable Paskar there to support us, but also Justin Chaston, competing in his speciality, the steeplechase. Matt Chaston was on hand too to add a little more strength to our 5000m line-up.
Just think what we could have achieved had we not placed stone bonkers last in the opening match way back in May! Anyway, it was a hugely enjoyable campaign during 2014 and the team and manager are looking forward to 2015 already.
Final league positions: 1 Crawley AC 20 (1106); 2 Tonbridge AC 19 (1083); 3 Dartford H 16 (997.5); 4 Belgrave H 16 (995.5); 5 Asfford AC 15 (921.5); 6 Worthing AC 13 (845).
