Team Manager Adam Cameron Reports
A strong turnout for the first midweek Rosenheim League saw impressive performances from both men and women teams on the night.
For the Women, a well fought 3rd place finish to start off the league containing some stand out performances across the match. In the sprints, standout performances from Electra Lanyon saw her run well clear to first place in the 200m, whilst Nicole Toft ran the leader very close up to the line finishing strongly in 2nd in the 400m. This carried on in the middle distance events, with Jojo Rhodes only seconds off first in the first track meet of her season, whilst non scorer Keri Mackenzie also running a powerful 1500m just behind Jojo. In the 3000m Meghan Bailey picked up more Belgrave points, whilst Vilma Thompson bought home impressive results in the field events. The women relay team stormed through to a seemingly easy win, with Rose O’Brien striding easily down the home straight for the win.For the men, a host of non scorers posted strong times in the 100m races, with Matt De Rossi posting sub 12 seconds in his scoring race. Sam Shore managed to edge out the field in the 200m coming back with a win, to get over his recurring starting troubles in the 100m sprint. Training partner Mark Silvester ran a 400m to third place, building up speed for a summer PB. Nick Dilley stepped in to score in the 800m and ran a comfortable 2 laps showing potential for the summer and picking up further points. Again, strong Belgrave spirit allowed non scorers such as Giles Simons and JC Doukrou to run out strong races and post good times for their upcoming seasons. Into the longer distance, and Belgrave started to shine brightly, with Paskar Owor keeping pace around 1500m to hold off good Hercules pressure, whilst in the 3000m Gus Upton opened a huge gap to win, not far in front of training partners Ed Auden and Matthew Welsh. The revelation of the night came in the mens Steeplechase, where first time eventer Nick Buckle held off the entire field to come home with a win. In the triple jump, Mark Silvester proved his loyalty bringing home high scoring points in 2nd place, with non scorer JC also posting strong distances. Meanwhile Tom Ikeda took care of the throws with a win in the javelin and second in the hammer. The night was topped with another Belgrave relay result, with the mens team easily powering through to first place, and a first place overall finish.Overall a good night with a number of high quality performances from both scoring and non scoring members, with much more to come through the season.
