Report by Robert Norville
After 3 matches, the men’s team sit in 4th place whilst the women sit in 3rd. With venue changed to tooting we once again had a small team out
Laura Reilly got the women off to a good start with a win in the 100 hurdles whilst Mia Callenberg won the shot, 100m and a 2nd in the 200m kept the women in the mix. Monique Krefting was too good for the long jump field though Mia Callenberg pushed her close. Emma Watkins ran a measured 400m for 2nd place before Maureen Noel stepped in over the 800 and 1500m to give us valuable points for an overall creditable 3rd place on the night.
In the men’s match on the field, Roy Collier took to the throws coming 2nd in the shot and 3rd in the javelin and U17 Roy Osei came 5th in the long jump. On the track Antonio Araque ran a brilliant 100m to place 1st whilst newcomer Matthew Ayoola came 3rd in the 200m also pushing Sam Shore all the way in a 1-2 in the non-scoring 100m. Matt Welsh ran a measured 1500m in a PB time and placing 2nd. In the 3000m Paskar Owor continued on his journey back to fitness with a win in what seems to be becoming the most popular event in the matches this year. Nick Buckle and John Harrison also ran in the race placing 4th and 6th respectively. To end the night, Belgrave men easily won the 4x200m relay.
