Maureen Noel wins Enfield League competition for 2015

Interspersed between competing in Track and Field events for Belgrave and Civil Service, running Marathons and competing in Masters events, Maureen Noel has also been representing Belgrave in the Enfield Race Walking League. This involves competing in up to eleven events from January to November at distances from 5k to 7 miles and taking the best nine performances. The events are not just held in Enfield (Donkey Lane and Lea Valley) but Barnet, Chesham, Hillingdon and Newmarket.

Maureen missed a couple of races early in the year and had to take part and score well in the last 5 races to stand a chance of victory. She did that and it ended as a very tight finish, with Maureen only taking the title at the last event at Hillingdon to beat Helen Middleton of Enfield with a determined effort in windy conditions. The final margin over the full season was a mere three points: 560 to 557. This isn’t the first time Maureen has won, but the last time was way back in 2006.
