Juniors Surrey Cross Country League Match 2, Wimbledon
Belgrave Boys Cross Country
Wimbledon, Saturday 7 November 2015
With the number of boys turning out for Belgrave in the Surrey Cross Country League now up to five (and expected to grow in the coming months) we saw excellent performances from all of our squad at our home fixture at Wimbledon on Saturday 7th November at 2:30 pm as they battled gale force winds and staccato rainfall. In the U15 age group, the ever-consistent Zayd Addicote finished a scorching second, followed closely by Joseph O’Cleary in 11th position, bettering his position from his previous appearance in October by two places. Jakub Karas gritted his teeth and hung on to finish, even after being hit by a nasty stomach cramp half way round the course. Well done Jakub, you’re a true Belgravian.
In the U17 age group we were represented by Jeanri Bertrand, running his first cross country race for the club and afterwards looking none the worse for it. No doubt the cold and wind of January might alter that a bit. Our only U13 runner was Blaine Robinson, who, in 26th place, must have been the youngest athlete of the day, certainly the smallest! No doubt he will come on in leaps and bounds in the coming months, as will all of our boys, who showed real determination and team spirit throughout. We look forward to more of the same at the next League meeting in January. Things are looking up for Belgrave Boys.
