Some months ago we reported the strong possibility that Goldie Sayers would be elevated to Olympic bronze at Beijing following the likely DQ of the Russian Abakumova.This has now been confirmed, so our warmest congratulations to Goldie.A pragmatic Goldie writes:"The news that the IOC have officially sanctioned Abakumova for a positive doping test from Beijing is a step along the process of becoming an Olympic medalist.  However, there are still a few more steps to go through as medals have got to be handed back by the athletes involved and record books changed before the IAAF can decide that they will re-award them."I am of course relieved and excited that this step has now been made official but I'm going to wait a little longer before cracking open the champagne as an Olympic medalist."
