Club to Re-enact Famous Photo
Please Come to The Swan on Saturday to recreate history.
We are going to attempt something historic and fun on Saturday, November 7th, which we’d love your help for. The mission is to recreate THIS picture, from 1921 of the club handicap to contest the Blackstaffe Shield. It is taken from outside the Swan pub on the Ridgway, very close to Belgrave Hall, which is of course still there, in near unchanged form. As you can see from the second image, the window on the right has been bricked over, but its arched outline clearly remains.Anyway, 94 years on, we have another big club fixture – the second Surrey Cross-country league on our home course. So please could all Belgravian runners, officials and supporters kindly congregate at the Swan from 1340 hours onwards, for the photo to occur a little before 2pm, to give marshals time to get out onto the course for the Juniors race.I shall put the word out to some senior, local Belgravians who may not necessarily tune into the website too regularly, and do feel free to spread the word yourselves. There are 42 Belgravians in the 1921 image, hopefully we can match that figure in 2015!
