SEAA London Championships

Parliament Hill Saturday 15th November

Although rarely raced by Belgrave athletes, this event organised by SEAA is surprisingly well attended,  with over a thousand youngsters representing their boroughs in the morning, followed by the senior men's and women's championships in the afternoon.

Our small senior contingent came for different reasons, Anne and Knut Hegvold because their daughter was running in the morning, some others to experience the course being used for the National in February.

Undoubted star of the day was ten year old Naomi Toft who came a magnificent 2nd in the U11 race. When a bigger girl tried to push past her in the finishing straight, her coach was delighted to see her using her sharp elbows to fight back and secure her silver medal!

[/ezcol_1third_end]Adelaide Clair also ran very well to finish 7th in the U13's, and we had three girls, Maddie Lloyd, Nicole Toft and Milla McKenzie, finishing close together in the U15 race.

Felicity Cole runs strongly through the muddy course

Unfortunately, whilst leading our group of five women, Keri MacKenzie was forced to drop out at the top of the hill on the second lap with breathing problems. The others now led by Catherine Lovegrove, all ran strong races on this tough course. It was good to see Felicity Cole back running well, with Anne Hegvold just behind and Hester, fresh from her New York Marathon, completing the four to score team.
