CARDIFF BAY 10K, CARDIFF, 25TH MARCH 2018
"Sophie & Matt Pave The Welsh Roads "On a bright sunny day in Cardiff something many of us has prayed for, both Matt Welsh and Sophie Grace Harris set out to race the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10k.Warming up in the sunshine with the rays soaking into their skin was a lot more enjoyable compared to the mud, cold and rain experienced in recent xc races. After a few strides up and down the start funnel, it was time to race. The countdown begins, heads down, fingers on watches, the last flick of the hair, the gun goes. A sea of people surged on to the Welsh roads all running the same course but all with different intentions. Some set out to win, some strive for the next personal best, but all thinking that they could run the first km in under 3 minutes, making for a chaotic start.Sophie loves running in Wales and the sun, support and buzzing atmosphere combined to make a recipe for a great run. Finishing second in the elite female field, Sophie also managed to secure a small PB and finish time of 00:34:35 on a technical course finish.
