BUPA 10k UKA road running champs, London, 25 May 2015

10 Entered, Nine Start and Eight Finish as Men Signal Real Intent

po and ng bupa 15Well, we thought we were turning a corner but the sea of claret and gold at the start of the Bupa 10k incorporating the UKA champs was a heart-warming sight, dampened only by a DNS for Wicksy [cold], who goes instead at Bristol on Sunday; and a DNF for Nick Bundle who played a knee niggle safe at half-way.Going through the first K in 2:48, Paskar lurked on the shoulder of Andy Vernon, and when AV made his break at around 4k, PO was the only athlete to take the bait.  A mistake he feels now, and the run home was tough, but still a fine effort by the lion.  Nick G also had a fast start, probably too fast for his first race in 18 months, but he can be quite satisfied with his work, and he'll only improve on this.It was good to see Kris having a strong run and closing in our scoring team, which to the naked eye looks to be around 5th.  Keeping KG honest every step of the way was Taras, enjoying an exceptional run, as did Andrius. And still they came, with Ed only a short way back, followed by Doug and Phil.nick goolab bupa 15ed audenThe women were one short of a team alas, but Sophie still roared to an outstanding PB, well supported by Flic.1 Andy Vernon (AFD) 28:38 ; 14 P Owor 30:06; 26 N Goolab 30:46; 37 K Gauson 31:33; 41 T Telkovsky 31:48; 51 A Jaksevicius 32:15; 77 E Auden 33:01; 283 D Morton 37:04; 529 P Carstairs 40:06.1 J Pavey (Exeter) 32:56; 21 S Carter 35:41; 120 F Cole 41:08.
